When I first met Jane + Nick, they were so laid back and told me about their dreams for their wedding day. When they first started to describe their day, they told me they hoped it wouldn't be a problem that they weren't doing anything "traditional." I asked them to elaborate, and the more they described their wedding, the more I fell in love with the idea of it.
Jane + Nick are simple people. They are both teachers and have been together longer than most people my age have even known their best friend. They even have started their own family, with their dog, River!
Their wedding day began with all of the bridal party pictures beforehand without an elaborate first look, which made their day even more casual and laid back. They welcomed their guests to their High Line Car House ceremony by greeting them at the front door with a mimosa bar. Jane chose a simple off-the-rack cream dress from J. Crew, with a lace topper, while the guys wore simple gray pants, tennis shoes, white shirts and ties.
Their vows were simple and perfect, surrounded by their closest friends and family. They forewent a formal dinner and opted for an extended cocktail hour and hors d'oeuvres, which the guests all raved about. The ambiance was complemented by a live band, which karaoke soon followed thereafter.
It honestly made me think the concept of totally overblown weddings, and gave me some ideas for when my big day finally arrives (although I gotta find a man, first!).
